At SpaChem Trade we understand the importance of the pH levels being just right in your hot tub and to ensure your primary sanitizer has the best water environment to be as effective as it can.
What Exactly is Total Alkalinity Plus and Why its so important to get it right?, Total Alkalinity's function is a buffer for the water's pH levels and enables you to control the levels better. Therefore, you should always give attention to the total alkalinity before you start looking at the pH levels themselves.
Ideally, your hot tub should have a total alkalinity value of around 80 to 120 ppm (parts per million). Anything that is above or below this value will mean that it will be harder to get the pH levels right.
As the total alkalinity of the hot tub water can change as you try to adjust your pH levels, therefore it is best to check the total alkalinity first.
